Residents of a Chicago condo association called a plumbing company to rescue a kitten caught in one the building's sewer pipes. The plumbers rescued the feline and fixed the damaged pipe after the association held an emergency meet to approve the work.

Most high-net-worth individuals donate to charities while they are alive, rather than through wills, according to a study by the Urban Institute. However, posthumous donations tend to be much larger than contributions were during givers' last years of life, the study finds.
Salesforce.org will distribute $18 million among Bay Area nonprofits focused on social issues, such as education and homelessness. "There's so much opportunity, but only for people who have strong education," says Salesforce co-CEO Marc Benioff, noting the company's nonprofit arm plans to invest $100 million in public schools.
